Acreditaciones de Confianza para el Sector del Software Libre

A través del proyecto Morfeo Pyme la comunidad Morfeo está ofreciendo asesoramiento sobre buenas prácticas para la mejora de procesos y calidad en las pymes.

Para este asesoramiento se apoya en el nuevo servicio de Acreditaciones de Confianza para Empresas del Sector TIC desarrollado por el Centro de Excelencia de Software Libre de Castilla-La Mancha que permite emitir una serie de SELLOS DE CONFIANZA con los que identificar las aplicaciones, empresas y personas de calidad demostrada.

El objetivo de este iniciativa es apoyar al sector TIC y reflejar la calidad de sus productos y servicios.

SHARE: Embedded Open Source Project

SHARE is a support action funded under the ICT Theme of the Seventh Framework Programme and brings together 8 partners including universities and companies from 3 European countries (Italy, Spain, UK), coordinated by Mr. Massimo Loffreda from SESM (Finmeccanica Group).

Few month ago, Morfeo Project was presented to the partners of SHARE Project in a dissemination event. Now again we have news from SHARE Project. They inform to us about forthcoming online events:

16th of February, at 11 (GMT+1). Mr. Alexander Hill of Critical Software Technologies based in the UK will discuss Critical’s role in the Embedded System industry and how Open Software affects this and other fields that Critical operates in.
17th of February, at 11 (GMT+1). Mr Susana Muñoz Hernández from TEDECO grou, based in Madrid will discuss the role of “Emerging Free Software Market in Developing Countries”.

Propuestas Morfeo en iberoamérica

Morfeo Formación, plataforma que ofrece cursos gratuitos sobre software libre, quiere extender su experiencia y aumentar su presencia en toda iberoamérica. Para ello se presentará como Proyecto de Innovación IBEROEKA. El proyecto cubrirá las necesidades de cualificación en tecnologías libres tanto de empresas de desarrollo de soluciones tecnológicas como de empresas usuarias de las mismas en iberoamérica, lo que asegurará la mejora de las competencias individuales y el desarrollo profesional en soluciones libres de los alumnos.

Animamos a los interesados en participar en la propuesta a ponerse en contacto con los responsables del proyecto mediante la lista de correo aacc-iberoamerica@lists.morfeo-project.org.

También dentro del marco IBEROEKA, la propuesta Morfeo Open Marketplace Iberoeka continúa abierta a la incorporación de nuevos socios. Dicha propuesta tiene como objetivo desarrollo de una infraestructura experimental de software que permita reunir y canalizar la oferta y demanda de servicios TIC sobre tecnologías libres en iberoamérica

Aquellos interesados en participar en la propuesta pueden ponerse en contacto con los responsables de la Red de Oficinas Morfeo.

Claudia: Telefónica I+D will release as Open Source research results on IaaS Clouds

As part of its exploitation strategy, Telefónica I+D decided to release as Open Source a number of components developed during the research on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Clouds. These components will be integrated in the Claudia Platform that will offer a Service Management toolkit to deploy and control the scalability of service among a public or private IaaS Cloud. Telefónica I+D chooses MORFEO Project to release the software because it guarantees the access to the results of research beyond the end of the project.

By March 2010, the first set of components, which are part of the research results of the RESERVOIR project, will be released:

Service Lifecycle Manager that will control the deployment and dynamic scalability processes of the services.
Scalability and Optimization Manager that will dynamically drive the configuration and scalability of the services.
OVF Manager component, a library to parse and transform OVF files that contains the service definition.
Service Monitoring Framework, based on the WASUP platform, will store and distribute the status of the services.
Cloud Dashboard, based on the EzWeb mashup platform, will provide a Web GUI to manage the Cloud.
The Service Manager Interface, an API that will allow developers to manage the deployment of their services as a whole.
Implementation of the OCCI (Open Cloud Computing Interface) API to integrate Claudia with different Virtual Infrastructure managers.

These components will continue evolving and put into a “production” status by Telefónica I+D. Each component will be released with its own Open Source License (GPL, Apache, MPL, etc.). Telefónica I+D will also provide commercial support following a dual-license schema.

The Claudia Platform is aligned with the Morfeo’s Cloud Technologies Chapter vision of integrating a complete Open Source Stack for managing a IaaS Cloud. In this way, Claudia will be fully integrated with Open Nebula through the OCCI API as both are members of the chapter.
